Founded in Fostoria, Ohio, in 1887, hence its name, the company packed up and moved to Moundsville, West Virginia in 1891 where glassware of the highest quality was manufactured through 1983 when Lancaster Colony bought the company.
At the turn of the 20th century Fostoria advertised “tableware, colognes, stationers’ glassware and candelabra.” They also made inkwells, vases, fingerbowls, plates, and an entire complement of tableware. Fostoria was famous for producing elegant etched and cut glass, often decorated with fashionable ruby red or gold bands.
